Answers to commonly asked questions about enrollment and registration

General Registration

You can register your child by clicking the "Register Now" button on our Enroll page or by visiting our registration form directly. You can also contact us via email or phone, and we'll guide you through the process.

Registration for regular classes typically opens in August before the school session begins in September. For our FastTrack and Little Learners programs, enrollment is open year-round — you can join anytime during the session.

Our academic year runs from September through June. Classes are held weekly at the Sikh Center of Seattle in Bothell. Please check our Calendar page for the detailed schedule and any holiday breaks.

We welcome students of all ages! Our Little Learners program is designed for children ages 3–5, and our regular classes (Levels 1–5) cater to school-age children and older. We also welcome adult learners who wish to learn Punjabi.

Programs & Classes

We offer three main programs:

  • Regular Classes (Levels 1–5): A structured curriculum covering Punjabi, Gurmukhi reading/writing, and cultural education.
  • FastTrack: An accelerated program for students who want to progress faster through the curriculum with personalized attention.
  • Little Learners (Ages 3–5): A play-based introduction to Punjabi through songs, stories, and fun activities.

Visit our Courses page for more details on each program.

An initial assessment is completed during enrollment to determine the right level for your child. After that, each quarter includes an assessment to track progress and ensure proper placement. Some classes may have additional assessments sooner depending on the curriculum pace.

New learners with no prior experience typically start at Level 1.

We use the Gurubolee textbook series for our regular classes. The required textbook for each level will be communicated during the registration process. Additional supplementary materials may be provided by instructors as needed.

Regular Classes follow a structured, year-long curriculum with weekly sessions from September to June. FastTrack is an accelerated, intensive program with flexible start dates and more personalized attention, ideal for motivated students who want to progress through the levels more quickly.

Punjabi School Bothell is entirely run by volunteers and sustained through donations. We do not charge a mandatory registration fee. Our expenses are reviewed from time to time to ensure we collect only the amounts needed to run operations.

Currently, we suggest an optional in-kind donation of $100 per child for the entire academic year. Each additional child from the same family is a recommended $50 per child for the year. If a family is unable to contribute, they are welcome to skip the donation — no child will be turned away.

The school provides all required books and materials at no extra cost.

For Regular Classes, enrollment typically happens at the start of the school year (August/September). However, our FastTrack and Little Learners programs accept enrollment at any time during the session. Contact us to discuss your options if you'd like to join mid-year.

We welcome volunteers! Whether you'd like to help teach, assist with events, or contribute in other ways, we'd love to have you. Please reach out to us via email or phone, and we'll find the best way for you to get involved. The spirit of seva (selfless service) is at the heart of everything we do.

Yes — since the school is entirely volunteer-run, parents will be asked to donate their time from time to time and help with school activities. This could include assisting in classrooms, organizing events, setting up or cleaning, and other community tasks. It's a wonderful way for families to stay engaged and model the spirit of seva (selfless service) for their children.

Absolutely! Punjabi School Bothell is open to children and families from all walks of life, regardless of religious background. In keeping with Sikh values of equality and inclusivity, we welcome everyone who is interested in learning Punjabi, Gurmukhi, and about Punjabi culture.
